First of all, it’s very difficult to get through on the phone. Second, once the call is connected, the person on the other end is very unprofessional. I asked the same question to different people, and each gave me a different answer. They all said they would call me back, but I never received any callbacks. I believe that the people answering the phones are extremely unprofessional and careless in their work. However, the doctors I encountered were still relatively professional.

Additionally, when I went to the pharmacy to pick up my medication, the pharmacy had to reject the prescription first. Then I had to call the center staff, asking them to have the doctor issue a confirmation stating that my condition requires the use of certain medications. This process seems to be something they don’t know how to handle or who should be responsible for, resulting in my medication being delayed by several days beyond what I expected, and I still haven’t received it. This has wasted a lot of my time.

Overall, the service was extremely unprofessional, and the pharmacy I was supposed to go to and the one I actually went to were completely different, which wasted a lot of time. To sum up, the doctors are professional, but the people answering the phones are extremely unprofessional. I suggest that they should undergo more training.

UPDATE 09/26/24: I spoke too soon. The experience just keeps deteriorating. From uninformed providers to rude staff over the phone. I'm starting to get the real trans center experience and it's a bit scary.

I had a provider tell me, "u have too much going on. Stop there," as I was going over my medical history with her.

At another appointment, she said, "This is the first time I've heard about this," when I have a full medical history with all this info AND when I was going over my medical history with her she told me to stop bc I had "too much going on". Do u want to know or don't you?!

That same provider wrote a referral to the wrong type of specialist and then tried to gaslight me by saying I asked for the wrong referral, but thankfully, it was in writing. Everyone makes mistakes but when your first instinct is to deflect and point the finger at others, especially the patients, that's an immediate red flag.

I decided to look into switching providers in the center and research the other providers before making a decision. I called the center to get the names of the other providers and the staff person had the worst attitude, initially refused to give me the first name of one of the providers ("last name is enough") and I had to slowly explain to him that there are MILLIONS of doctors and to research a specific doctor I needed their FULL name. That's common sense, I fear

idk if this place is equipped to be a PCP. It's devastating to be forced to compartmentalize your humanity. They have the most trans care resources in the city but the way my insurance works, I'm required to make them my PCP in order to see them for trans care. U have to make a choice - great trans resources or great medical care. You can't get both here yet. Hopefully that changes in the future

Original review:

They have the BEST CHAIRS. If you like sitting criss-cross apple sauce or just any other non-standard sitting, they got you. The single seats are wide with sturdy arms and backs. Only a niche set of people will care about this, but iykyk

The front desk people I interacted with were very cool and spoke gently. There was no shouting names across a room or that cold doctors' office energy. They were all warm and easygoing. I want to be that zen

The appointment wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst. The doctor didn't go over my medical history and I'm supposed to be making them my PCP which is scary bc I have a chronic illness and there can't be a gap in my care or medication but it feels like the transition to them being my PCP would be rocky

Their scheduling is a little disorganized, too, so that's another concern

If you don't have any major health issues and are fine with sometimes being rescheduled last minute, then you'll be fine, and again, it's just a great vibe. How many doctors' offices do u know with great vibes?

I came here after noon on a Friday after fleeing an abusive relationship, leaving me homeless. They seemed unconcerned and told me to try going to Midnight Mission in Skid Row since they can't help me until Wednesday of next week. The staff is kind.

I am a client at Trans Wellness Center and have been receiving services at Trans Wellness since last summer. I wanted to take a moment to sing Kadence King’s praises.

When I first came to Trans Wellness I was in a state of extreme distress, having just arrived in Los Angeles only to undergo a family crisis that left me homeless and without any local support.

Kadence helped me access resources that led to my getting housed, as well as receiving food stamps and cash aid - no small feat in my case. In addition to practical resources and sound advice Kadence has repeatedly gone above and beyond to offer me warmth and reassurance that helped calm my overwhelm and remind me that I deserve to thrive. She has always treated me like a real person, not a number or “case,” and that is a gift beyond measure to anyone in crisis.

I truly hold Kadence in the highest regard and am so thankful for everything she has done for me. She is an incredible asset to this organization.

I’ve never had a worse healthcare experience. I went here as it was my only affordable option at the time, but my recent experience has me looking elsewhere for competent care. My doctor left the practice and it seems no one knows what to do with my prescription refills or how to do a pre authorization with my insurance. You call in and get transferred a bunch before you get to talk to anyone and it always turns out that they can’t actually help you. The doctors are only in two days a week and they are typically the ones who need to sign off on medications so it takes forever to get your prescription. I would not recommend going here if you are seeking adequate, competent, and compassionate care as I do not believe this place views the health of tans individuals as a priority. Avoid at all costs if you can; if you can’t, expect subpar care and issues getting your medications.

If I could give ZERO stars to this health center, I would. "Doctor" Ayana Elliot and her entire staff are anything but inclusive and welcoming . I was literally barred from entering with my partner on her first appointment and everytime my partner would try to speak up about the medicines that she needed, Ayana Elliot would instantly cut her off. You all show no positive examples of Patient Etiquette and when I called in to try to voice my concerns, no one bothered to return my voice mails. Long story short, If any of you are attempting to look for a wellness clinic that is welcoming, non judgemental and inclusive. I am sorry to state this but this clinic definitely does not demonstrate that and I for one am disappointed and traumatized by this experience.
